Another Epstein, Becker & Green
Event Disrupted 5-17-01

New York - A panel of the New York University School of Law's Center for Labor and Employment Law's 54th Annual Conference on Labor was visited by a supporter of the Pacifica Campaign this afternoon. The conference, Cross-Border Human Resources, Labor and Employment Issues, had EB&G attorney Howard Pianko (http://www.ebglaw.com/atty_bio_64.htm) speaking on Global Stock Based Benefit and Compensation Plans on its panel covering "Issues on the Horizon for Global Organizations" (http://www.law.nyu.edu/laborcenter/laborconf/2001/agenda.html).

The visitor to the event, which had about 60 attendees, walked to the front of the posh conference room and was actually invited to speak by the person with the floor. A brief explanation of the Pacifica Foundation, its historical work and mission, and Epstein, Becker & Green's role in the attempted destruction of the network was welcomed by many in the room, with laughter and applause. Many were eager to receive the literature being distributed during the visit, the Pacifica Campaign "Vulture flyer", available online at http://pacificacampaign.org. The Pacifica Campaign is calling for the resignation of EB&G Senior Associate John Murdock from the Pacifica Board.

As this peaceful interloper was exiting the room, an event organizer (ostensibly an NYU Law School staffer) and an unarmed private security guard approached him. The besuited staffer aggressively grabbed the peaceful demonstrator and clung to his sweatshirt. The demonstrator exclaimed, "I am being illegally detained. I am attempting to leave and am being illegally detained. Let go of me!" The two angrily tailed the departing visitor, who melted into the eclectic pedestrian traffic of New York's West Village.

A report on the event was heard on KPFA's Flashpoints between 5:00 -5:35 PM Pacifica Time, on May 17th, 2001 (hear KPFA online at http://www.kpfa.org).
