Executive Director Bessie M. Wash today announced that Utrice Leid has been named Pacifica's new Director of National Programming

Washington, D.C. (September 13, 2001) - Pacifica Foundation Executive Director Bessie M. Wash today announced that Utrice Leid has been named Pacifica's new Director of National Programming. She also announced that Robert Daughtry has been named General Manager of Pacifica station WBAI in New York City.

Ms. Leid has been serving as interim general manager of WBAI since December of 2000. A fixture at WBAI for some 20 years, she was also the host of the popular "TalkBack," an interactive program of debate on issues of local and national interest. Ms. Leid's appointment takes effect immediately. She replaces Steve Yasko, who tendered his resignation last week.

Mr. Daughtry, who also assumes his new responsibilities immediately, was most recently Director of Operations of Pacifica station WPFW in Washington, D.C. He has been the host of a Pacifica program on jazz greats, simulcast in New York and Washington, and he was the host of an afternoon drive-time jazz show that aired in Washington on Mondays.

"We are pleased to welcome Utrice and Robert to their new positions," said Ms. Wash. "We look forward to working with them."
